Tomatin 12 Year Old Scotch Whisky 750ml
$95.00 $80.75
In 2014, the Tomatin 12 Year Old was given an update and bottled at 43% ABV rather than 40%, as it was previously. This core single malt from the ace distillery in the Highlands is finished for six-to-nine months in Oloroso Sherry casks before being bottled.
The Tomatin 12 Year Old is classically smooth, having been matured in traditional Scotch Whisky, ex-Bourbon, and ex-Spanish Sherry casks. Aromas of wild heather, pine, and cedar soon sweeten to reveal notes of crème caramel with apples, pears, and mango before a full-bodied and buttery finish.
A polished, mellow, very approachable Speysider, Tomatin was once the largest distillery in Scotland with 23 stalls and a production capacity of 12 million liters of alcohol per year. These days capacity is down to 5 million liters, the majority of which goes into the delicious Antiquary blend. This sherry-finished version was relaunched in 2010 and is a noticeable improvement on the old 12yo.
A 2016 replacement for the previous sherry-finished expression, this Tomatin 12 Year Old has been aged in a combination of bourbon and sherry casks. The result is a sweet whisky with notes of apples, citrus, and sweet spice.
