Springbank 10 Year Old Scotch Whisky

A fabulous 10 year old Springbank, matured in bourbon casks as well as sherry casks, adding a wonderful depth of flavor. Slightly peated, it marries a complex mixture of maritime notes as well as a fresh and fruity balance. The definition of a Campbeltown classic.

Blended from a mixture of bourbon and sherry casks, the light color of this malt belies the richness of its character. The nose has a wide range of aromas, from citrus fruits to pears and a hint of peat, while the palate shows touches of smoke, vanilla essence, nutmeg, cinnamon, and the salty tang characteristic of the distillery. Picked up the top prize in its category at the World Whiskies Awards 2014.

Smells of dried figs, sultanas, lime marmalade, sea breeze, green olive, lemongrass, malted milk, and unsweetened coconut. The taste profile asserts itself in the forms of light caramel, paraffin, and almond paste; at midpalate, the spirit becomes more evident as the off-dry, malty, moderately salty flavor warms the tongue and throat. Concludes gracefully and elegantly, with a mild rush of heat and smoke.

The nose offers up plenty of oak, exotic spices, guava, heather honey, and soft smoke.

A full, sweet, creamy palate with hints of smoke, marzipan, and cigar boxes.

Finish:

A smoky finish, trailing off on sweet cider and toasty barley.
