Highland Park 18 Year Old enjoyed a redesign in 2017, receiving livery inspired by the wood carvings from Urnes Stave Church and a new sub-name, “Viking Pride”. The Orkney single malt remains the same as before – rich, complex, and supremely delicious.

The 2017 relaunch of one of our all-time favorites, this has to be one of the most consistently excellent malt whiskies of the past 10 years. Showered with awards and praise from all quarters, it was named as ‘Best Spirit in the World’ by F Paul Pacult of the Spirit Journal. Unfailingly excellent, especially after a good meal.

Pacult wrote: ‘After 25 years’ experience, it fits my profile of what makes a perfect whisky, which is to say it’s totally in harmony, there are no rough edges and everything is melded together brilliantly.’

Highland Park 18 year old is a masterclass of balance, complexity, and refinement. Lingering layers of sweet honeyed malt, meet characterful dried fruit notes, marzipan, and golden syrup, all wrapped up in swathes of our distinctive, subtle floral peat smoke. A whisky, which reveals more layers with every glass you enjoy.

Opening aromas are of sea breeze, cigar smoke, oak, and malted barley; air contact releases light caramel, fudge, cocoa bean, burnt candlewick, and heather. Entry is the most complex of any whisky; midpalate soars on oak, spirit, and grain tastes. The greatest distilled spirit of this generation.

Nose:

A profusion of ripe floral notes and fresh blossom with a delectable fruit salad. Notes of honeyed exotic fruits with a little botrytis.

Palate:

Creamy and full of fruit conserves and espresso. A creaminess with cinnamon and allspice. Notes of toffee with thick black forest honey with a touch more citrus.

Finish:

Long and well sugared with a herbal edge.
