Glenlivet Nadurra Peated Cask Finish Single Malt Scotch 750ml

The Glenlivet Nadurra Peated Oloroso matured single malt scotch whisky is matured exclusively in first-fill oloroso sherry oak casks from the Jerez region of Spain. These casks are some of the most highly prized and sought after casks used by whisky makers, and impart distinctive notes of dried fruits, raisins, apricots, orange marmalade, and dark chocolate to the whisky. After maturing in the casks, the whisky is bottled at cask strength without the use of chill filtration.

Matured in first-fill ex-bourbon casks before a finishing period in casks that previously held heavily peated Scotch whisky. This third no age statement Glenlivet Nadurra Peated release addresses the fact that if you’re setting out to create a whisky that George Smith would recognize, you do have to appreciate that peat was used at the distillery in his day.

Our latest expression in the Nàdurra family boldly draws its inspiration from The Glenlivet’s historic whisky-making traditions in which peat smoke was used to dry the malted barley, lending a smoky flavor to the whisky. Unlike its two siblings, the Nàdurra Peated Whisky is finished in casks that previously held heavily peated Scotch whisky, giving a gently smoky twist to the classic, smooth and fruity house style that The Glenlivet is known for.

Nose:

Tangy and ‘fizzy’, old fashioned lemonade and hints of Orangina or Buck’s Fizz even. There are gooseberry and a touch of coconut and foam banana. Raspberry and rhubarb develop. The peat comes through as nutty malted barley.

Palate:

Finish:

The creaminess and earthy peat combine for a chocolatey finish, both pleasantly bitter cocoa and creamy Cadbury’s hot chocolate with hints of fruitiness still.
