Inspired by the pioneering spirit of sandy grant Gordon, this historic expression is a recreation of the original Glenfiddich 1963 Replica Release straight malt that started the single malt category.

Our malt master, brian kinsman, recreated the original 1963 from our unrivaled collection of aged whiskies with the recipe uncovered from the Glenfiddich family archives.

While most whiskies today mature in oak, sherry casks were more prominent in 1963. The result, then and now, is a spirit contrasting many of our other expressions.

The aroma is floral with the hallmark Glenfiddich pear, followed by lively fruit notes, biscuity with a soft vanilla oakiness, and deliciously dry finish.

Inspired by the original Glenfiddich 1963 Replica Release, the expression with which Glenfiddich brought single malt to the world, this special edition is an exclusive addition to our Collection of single malt Scotch whiskies.

It was faithfully recreated by our Malt Master Brian Kinsman using our extensive archives and exclusive whisky sample collection.

Discover a true piece of our family-run Distillery’s heritage with this extraordinary whisky.

Glenfiddich The Original is a single malt Scotch whisky inspired by a previous release from the legendary distillery – the 1963 Glenfiddich Straight Malt, the expression to which Sandy Grant Gordon introduced the world to. Glenfiddich The Original was created by Malt Master Brian Kinsman, recreating the flavor profile of the 1963 Glenfiddich Straight Malt with help from the original recipe book from their 4th Malt Master, Hamish Robertson.

Glenfiddich’s Malt Master, Brian Kinsman, has faithfully replicated a true taste of history. This exclusive whisky is light and fruity with hints of sherry spice from the European oak sherry butts that were predominantly used in the 1960s. Sip neat and enjoy!
