Duplais Absinthe Verte 750ml

Duplais Absinthe Verte is named after and based on a recipe from a 19th-century French distiller’s manual ‘Traité des Liqueurs et de la Distillation des Alcools’ by P. Duplais. The botanicals used to make it are sourced from a Swiss plantation reserved exclusively for the finest pharmaceutical-grade herbs.

Colored with natural chlorophyll so liable to fade and change from batch to batch. When first launched in Europe in July 2005, the label of Duplais absinthe, in keeping with other absinths from the family-owned Matter-Luginbühl distiller, featured different works of art. These labels, the so-called ‘Art Edition’ are still available but the now more commonly seen ‘Retro Edition’ label was created at the insistence of the American importer.

Duplais Verte was first introduced to the European market in July 2005 and has the distinction of being the first “verte” (green-colored) absinthe to be released in Switzerland since the 1910 ban was lifted in 2005.

Duplais recipe is based directly on the highest quality absinthe “Suisse” protocols from the important 19th-century French distiller’s manual, “Traité des Liqueurs et de la Distillation des Alcools” by P. Duplais, from whom it takes its name.

Duplais uses both Pontarlier and Swiss wormwood, along with other botanicals that are grown on a Swiss plantation reserved exclusively for the finest pharmaceutical-grade herbs. The distillate is reduced to final strength using spring water from the Alps.

The Blanche expression is clear in color and is the only French-style clear Swiss absinthe available in the US market.

Appearance:

Clear, pale grassy green. With water touches milky pale green.

Aroma:

Clean, fragrant fennel and wormwood.

Taste:

Wormwood and fennel with rooty herbal notes and a very faint spiciness.

Aftertaste:

The spicy note is more notable in the long slight grassy finish.
