Legend has it that in 1811 Napoleon Bonaparte visited the Courvoisier Vsop Fine Cognac warehouses run by Emmanuel Courvoisier and his associate Louis Gallois. Later, the French leader took several barrels of the cognac with him to St. Helena, and the English officers on his ship enjoyed it so much they nicknamed Courvoisier “The Cognac of Napoleon.”

Another Napoleon, Napoleon III, reinforced Courvoisier’s reputation as the finest cognac available by granting Courvoisier Cognac. The title of “Official Supplier to the Imperial Court” in 1869.

Aged up to 10 years. We use a blend from the Grande Champagne and Petit Champagne crus for our VSOP, giving it the “Fine Champagne” distinction. The unmistakable finesse of the vanilla, dried fruit, and heady summer flower notes builds slowly while aging in French Oak barrels for up to a decade.

A skillfully crafted cognac that is a blend of several crus with a perfect balance between Fins Bois, Grande, and Petite Champagnes, at the peak of their aromatic potential. The result is an exquisitely balanced cognac with notes of peach and toasted almond.

Nose:

Whole coffee beans, mint leaves, kumquat, and red grape notes appear at first. Give it a minute and more savory elements appear, with hints of buttered brown bread and a little whiff of sawdust.

Palate:

More coffee notes as it opens. Develops touches of brown sugar, waxy apple peels, sweet pea, and a fragrant oakiness.

Finish:

Ooh, a nice waft of almost-smoky cinnamon on the finish. Slowly becomes sweeter with fresh pear and gummy bears.
